Not so good. The pollution from the burning of fossil fuels continues to increase the CO2 level in our atmosphere. It’s currently at the parts per million that you can see at the top of this website. Our earth is currently on track for a 3C degree temperature increase, a climate hell for our children, grandchildren, and future generations, if we continue with Business As Usual, but it won’t stop there. The global temperature will continue to increase unless we take drastic and urgent action.

We are living in a climate emergency!

‘Earth hit with 12 straight months of record-breaking temperatures’, as reported by CBC News on June 5th, 2024.  Every month and every year going forward is going to be hotter with more extreme weather because of global heating.  There are thousands of people dying, millions that are losing their homes and livelihoods because of extreme weather caused by the burning of fossil fuels (see ‘Spate of extreme weather seen across globe’ below published by the Globe & Mail on May 9th, 2024).  The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres has warned ‘Humanity Needs ‘Exit Ramp off Road to Climate Hell’ .  This is a short video that was broadcast by CBC on June 5th, 2024 (2:02).

World temperatures are rising because of human activity, and climate change now threatens every aspect of human life as well as other species.

July 27, 2023 The UN secretary general, António Guterres, has said scientists confirmed July was on track to be the world’s hottest month on record. Guterres warned ‘the era of global warming has ended, the era of global boiling has arrived’ after recent global temperatures shattered records. The steady rise in global average temperatures, driven by pollution that traps sunlight and acts like a greenhouse around the Earth, has made weather extremes worse. July 5, 2023 The UN secretary general has said that ‘climate change is out of control’, as an unofficial analysis of data showed that average world temperatures in the seven days to Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 were the hottest week on record.

‘If we persist in delaying key measures that are needed, I think we are moving into a catastrophic situation,’ said António Guterres after reports emerged about the world temperature records being broken on Monday, July 3rd, 2023 and Tuesday, July 4th, 2023.

The average global air temperature was 17.18C on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 according to data collated by the US National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), surpassing the record 17.01C reached on Monday, July 3rd, 2023.
